Application Procedure



We have streamlined the application process in order to provide quality customer service and a good experience for parents and students going through the admissions protocol.

 

Step 1:

 

Applicants must meet SCS academic and behavioral standards.  This will be determined through previous school records and/or testing done by the Admissions Department. 

Each student must submit at the time of application:

  • Report cards and transcripts for the previous four (4) years, for evaluation.  An official interpreter must translate report cards and transcripts in a language other than Spanish or English.  We must receive both originals for our records.

 

  • A letter of recommendation from the Principal or Guidance Counselor of the last school in attendance.  The recommendation must address both academic and behavioral performance.

 

  • Foreign students planning on studying at a Dominican school or university are required to do equivalency of studies and obtain an official resolution through the Dominican Department of Education.

 

  • Students that have the need of an ESL program (Grades 1st – 6th) will be enrolled on a space available basis.  Only students that have the possibility of functioning at their grade level in one school year will be considered for acceptance.

 

Step 2:

 

Parents will need to fill out and return all required documents before an interview may be granted.  These documents are:

  •   SCS Application for Admissions Form
  •   Original Birth Certificate translated into English or Spanish
  •   2 photos (2 x 2)
  •   Transcripts / Report Cards (previous 4 years)
  •   SCS Request for Transcripts Form
  •   Letter of Recommendation from previous school
  •   Immunization Record
  •   SCS Health Record Form
  •   Written Essay stating personal history and reasons for wanting to attend SCS (Grades7th –12th)
  •   8th grade National Exam Certificate (if applicable)
  •   Copy of Application fee receipt

 

Without these documents you cannot proceed with the admissions process.  Once the appropriate paperwork has been submitted and the application fee paid, an admissions appointment will be schedule with the parent/guardian and child for an evaluation.

 

 

Step 3:

 

  •   During the interview process, the registrar will provide an overview of SCS.

 

  •   After all the documents are submitted, a recommendation will be made to the appropriate principal about the applicant’s interview.

 

  •   The applicant will be given an assessment evaluation to ensure the child is placed in the appropriate grade level and to establish English ability.  By placing the child in the proper grade level, the student should achieve greater success in the school environment.

 

  •   The parent and applicant will be notified of the evaluation results and of the status of the application.

 

  •   After a grade placement is offered, the parent may proceed with the official registration, paying the required fees and purchasing the school uniform.
